Can Washington DC Count to 14?

by Stephen Valentino

I am shocked that it seems at the 11th hour many Democrats have called on the President to finally try to count to 14. I actually suggested this to Mr. Obama, via a face book post and a phone call that he do so over four weeks ago. Former President Bill Clinton did the same. Why count to 14 you may ask? The 14th amendment to the US Constitution, which the Supreme court
and Congress are sworn to uphold goes something like this:

Section 4 of the 14th Constitutional amendment:

The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

Now let's edit a bit as the clause about slavery is not, at least at present valid and focus on the first sentence:The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.

It does not say that we will only pay our debts if Medicare is cut, or medicaid is cut nor even Social Security. It does not say we must give greater tax breaks to Corporate America, or to the Millionaires and Billionaires trying to form a Supreme Oligarchy. It does not say that the Republicans can demand all this to help move forward their insane agenda and hurt the Democrats in the process.

Wake up and smell the coffee Democrats! As the minutes are ticking away and the market had dropped nearly 400 points so far how much more damage to we wish to see. Flood the office of the president, your Senators and Assembly members with phone calls and emails and any other social media source and tell them to invoke Amendment 14 now. It is our job and our duty. The
Constitution is one of the most beautiful documents humanity has ever written and I for one assure you that I love the Declaration of
Independence, The Bill of Rights and The Constitution and as I run for California State Senate I shall make these points very clear. I shall chant, sing and bellow till they are heard, saved and enforced.

This weekend I shall be attending the quarterly CDP meetings and E-Board Meetings in Anaheim California and I shall make a point to bring this up with everyone I have the opportunity to speak with on all our behalf. If you feel my voice of reason and common sense should be heard then I encourage you to visit www.valentino2012.com and contribute to my campaign via the Act
Blue link on my home page.

My Pledge on July 5, 2011

It is with great humility and yet with great passion, that at these very difficult times, I shall do my best to endeavor to effect change for the better and good. My dearest mother, Ina Mae has endorsed me, and that is a trust and a duty that I will not ignore.

When we, the people, are challenged and stripped of our rights and expectations, it is time for us all to stand up together and say this will not go un-noticed, this will not go un-challenged and together with one voice of solidarity and union I will carry your message to Sacramento and woe be unto those who would challenge the rights that we have every reason to expect and demand.

We are a people who have the right to freedom and to be able to pursue the American Dream and they Will hear your voices through mine as "The Singing Senator" changes the rules of the game to the rules of the people and not dance to the same old tune of greed.

We are Californians and no one can stop us when we put our minds to the test and the task. You can count on me and I will swear to you all that I shall always do my best to never let you down. My honor, as well as yours, is not for sale and I will challenge anyone whose is with loud and triumphant tones. Change is in the air and together we will make it happen. I thank you for your support. [MOREĀ»]
